RAID builder and failure lab
RAID builder and failure lab
Stripe, mirror, and parity arrays. Fail disks and watch availability and capacity change.
RAID 10 mission: fail two disks in different pairs (array stays up), then fail both disks in one pair (array dies). RAID is not a backup.
Disk 2DEGRADEDOne labeled disk failed. Array still up on RAID 1/5/10 until extra failures. RAID 10 pair math is in the RAID lab.
Can lose one disk per pair. Not two in the same pair. RAID is not a backup.
Disks4
Usable capacity (1 TB disks, simplified): 2 TB · failed disks 0 · array healthy
Pairs: [1+2][3+4]Two failed disks are fatal only when they are the same mirrored pair.
Click a disk to fail it. RAID is not a backup: a deleted file is deleted on every member.
